Artist of the Week: Men Without Pants

Men Without Pants could easily be called a supergroup, as it was formed by music biz veterans Russell Simins (Jon Spencer Blues Explosion) and Dan The Automator (Gorillaz) and features guest appearances from some of the industry’s finest, including Sean Lennon, Nick Zinner (Yeah Yeah Yeah’s), Sammy James Jr. (The Mooney Suzuki), Chris Isom (The Mooney Suzuki), Yuka Honda (Cibo Matto), Tada Hirano (Blonde Readhead) and vocals by newcomer Gillian Rivers (string arranger for The Pierces and Yeah Yeah Yeah’s).  Their debut release, Naturally [Expansion Team Records], includes the hit single “And The Girls Go.”  Not at all coincidentally, yesterday’s Episode #2 of Rookie Blue included it too, alongside tracks from In-Flight Safety, Sally Seltmann, Jeremy Fisher and Grand Analog.

“And The Girls Go” is hip, catchy, and gritty rock and roll — if you didn’t check it out yesterday at 9pm on Global in Canada and ABC in the United States, get yourself to these broadcasters’ websites to watch online!

Sounds Like:
“Catchy, trashy rock”

About:
“The resulting album is as expected, but nonetheless interesting, juxtaposition of dirty grooves under a pristine techno framework.”
— Under The Radar

“Additional collaborations with Sean Lennon, Cibo Matto, The Mooney Suzuki and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, solidify Naturally as a sure summer listen from two gents who never really go wrong.”
— Nicole Dawley, Urb Magazine
